ACLD Teen Scene

{March 6, 2009}   Teen Tech Week

Teen Tech Week logoTeen Tech Week is Mar. 8-14 this year and to celebrate, we’re introducing new services and programs just for teens.  One of them is this blog.  Here’s where you can find out about upcoming events and hot new books, movies, and music.

We also want to hear what YOU have to say.  We’ll be conducting polls and surveys and we hope you’ll take the time to give us some feedback.  You can also leave a comment or even chat with us (see our Meebo widget on the right?).

That’s not all we have planned for this blog.  We want it to be a place where we, the library, and you, our teen patrons, can share recommendations and talk about our favorite things.  We’ll be showing off stuff that we make, like video book talks and book trailers, podcasts, photos, and more, and we want you to show off what you can do, too.

That brings me to another new program that I’m really excited about: our Teen Tech Workshop series.  Don’t know how to make a video, podcast, or show off your photos online?  Come to our workshops and learn how.  We’re having our first two workshops on Friday, Mar. 13 from 3-5 pm.  You can learn how to design your own computer game using free software and decorate your MySpace profile.  We’ll post a schedule for the rest of our workshops soon.  If you have any suggestions for a workshop, let us know.

In addition to this blog, you can keep up with what’s going on in the ACLD on our MySpace page and follow us on Twitter.

So, stop by the downtown library on Friday, March 13 from 3-5 pm.  We’re down on the first floor.  In addition to the workshops, we’ll have our Wii set up, and there will be music and duct tape crafts (make a case for your cell or iPod).  Hope to see you there!

One more thing: we want to take pictures of everyone having fun at our Teen Tech program and share them on the blog and MySpace page.  We need your parents permission, though, so if you want us to post photos of you on our sites, please have them fill out and sign this release form and bring it with you.
